I’m considering buying a house in Seattle, but the inspector suggested I also get the sewer line checked. I’ve never done this before and don’t know what it involves. Does anyone know how detailed these inspections are and whether they’re worth it before closing on a property?

A sewer inspection before buying a property can save you thousands in unexpected repair costs later. These inspections are usually done with a camera that runs through the entire line, showing any blockages, cracks, or root intrusions that might not be visible otherwise. When I bought my home, my sewer inspection in Seattle was done by Ben's Plumbing, and I was impressed by how detailed the process was. They provided a video recording, walked me through the condition of the pipes, and explained potential future concerns. What made it worthwhile was discovering that there were early signs of corrosion that I could address before it became a bigger issue. If I had skipped it, I might have ended up with a huge repair bill down the road. For any serious home purchase, I’d definitely recommend getting this checked.
